How we score harmony
The harmony score (0–100) estimates how well a name sounds next to a surname. It combines three signals. Here's how each one works.
Size and contrast
Short surnames (fewer than 5 letters, like “Cruz”) pair better with longer names; long surnames call for shorter ones. We reward contrast and penalize “short + short” and “long + long” pairings.
Cacophony
When the end of the name collides with the start of the surname — same letter (“Lucas Silva”), two sibilant sounds, a repeated vowel at the join, or a rhyme between the two — the pair slurs together. These clashes lower the score.
Cadence and syllables
Names with 3–4 syllables tend to sound balanced; very short or very long names (6+ syllables) lose points. The calculation runs in your browser, instantly, without sending the surname to any server.
